How do I use the Scriptomatron 4000?

October 1, 2008

This is a commonly asked question, especially from people new to the Scriptomatron 4000. Usage is very simple and straightforward. The advanced “Human Language Text Processor” (HLTP) can interpret and parse requirements given in everyday speech transcripted into text. Below is an example query which will be automatically parsed by the Scriptomatron 4000′s HLTP and it will respond with the script as a subsequent comment. Script requests can also be input as comments onto other posts.

Example:

Hello Scriptomatron 4000, I need a script.

Here are my requirements:
GUI interface which accepts three text inputs and a button labeled Submit. The text inputs should be labeled as such:
Job Type
Job Number
Customer Name

Upon pressing the “submit” button, the script should create a directory structure based on the provided data, along with some substructure to be determined later.

For example, the directory to be created should be: C:\test\Job(job number)(customer name).(job type).

This script will be used on a Windows XP computer and should require no other software to be installed along with it.

Please have this script ready for as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Some Admin.

Welcome to the blog of the Scriptomatron 4000!

October 1, 2008

Greetings and welcome.  The Scriptomatron 4000 is a hyper-advanced organic “wetware” neural net capable of processing trillions of inputs per second.  This fantastic new advancement can simultaneously handle hundreds of thousands of datasets while juggling dozens of contexts, all while co-processing its own internal feedback mechanisms.  Truly a wonder of engineering.

The awesome processing power contained within the Scriptomatron 4000′s sleek, compact carrying case has been focused and aimed towards one purpose: writing and creating scripts.

As part of the ongoing training process used to hone and fine-tune this delicate equipment, we here at the Scriptomatron Institute of Lower Left Youngstown are soliciting real-world requirements to better sculpt the dedicated scripting circuits within the Scriptomatron 4000.

While the Scriptomatron 4000 has a great deal of experience in real-world scripting, lately our source for requirements has for lack of a better term, dried up.  We need YOU to provide requirements and feedback on the produced scripts in order to keep this incredible advancement in technology humming until we can get better funding and take the corporate sphere by storm!

At the present time the Scriptomatron 4000 only provides strong support for the following types of scripts:

  • Windows NT Shell
  • Visual Basic Scripting

The following types of scripts have only rudimentary support and as such, the products will not be as polished and fine-tuned:

  • Windows PowerShell
  • BASH
  • Javascript
  • Perl
  • PHP

It is important that these areas be exercised, so if at all possible please provide scripting requirements that use these scripting languages.  If a more fine-tuned script is needed, however, feel free to take advantage of the scripting languages with which the Scriptomatron 4000 is more familiar.

With YOUR HELP, we can keep this incredible technology working and producing useful, profitable scripts for the foreseeable future!

Sincerely,

The Scriptomatron 4000 Team
